This light and fluffy German Coffee Cake is perfect for breakfast or brunch!
I want to say I got this delicious recipe from SC
but I've had it for so long that I can't remember anymore.
1/4 c. butter
3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. milk
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 TBSP. baking powder
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
Beat butter in mixer until fluffy. Add sugar, eggs and milk.
(This is the point where I explain that I'm a low maintenance baker.)
Then add all dry ingredients and beat for 3 minutes.
Pour into a Pam sprayed 9X13 pan.
CRUMB TOPPING:
1/4 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. salt
1/4 c. flour
Cream sugar and butter. Mix in flour, cinnamon and salt.
Sprinkle crumbly topping over batter in pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
Some crumb topping will fall through the cake leaving these sweet craters of love!
Oh heavenly days! These are my favorite bites!Enjoy! I know I did. ;)
